This large wooden sculpture by Rudolf Steiner was
meant to occupy central stage in the First Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland
before this building consisting of was
burned down by arson at Sylvester 1922/23. It is now exhibited in an attic chamber
in the Second Goetheanum. With Christ as a the force of the double middle
between the polarity of Lucifer on top (the
Devil as he is called in the Bible) and Ahriman (the Biblical Satan) down
below, it represents a “Trinitarian” image to the dynamic threefold structure
of the statues of the Anthroposophical Society that offer a narrow path between
the Luciferic and Ahrimanic. The statue could therefore also be seen as The Constitution of Humanity.
